This sculpture was directly inspired by Matthew Berka's film under the palms.  I showed the film at my online platform kosmoss.co.uk. Within the curatorial strand of my practice I have been exploring a type of collaboration that could relate in character to ensemble work in dance or to movement improvisation.

I found Matt's film deeply moving, especially for the sense of entrapment I got from it, as well as certain type of speechlessness, that has its source in suffering. The medium directly relates to the prison tradition of carving in bars of soap.
