Flowers, 2022, performance, 60'', Lakeside Centre, London, film still, Bob Eikelbloom

Flowers stemmed from a Kosmoss curatorial project with an artist I greatly admire - Teddy May de Kock. It evolved into a collaboration thanks to Jerwood 1:1 funding and support from Bow Arts who lent us a project space In Lakeside Centre, Thamesmead.
Over the winter of 2022 Teddy May and I worked on the project, resulting in an hour long performance piece which we showed at Lakeside Centre in late February 2022.
We have been interested in that aspect of flowers that is expressed in the above quote from Witkacy - ease, being natural, which currently sounds at least complicated, if not laughable or even impossible. We decided to practice being together and talking to each other - about everything, and in that vain, our performance was woven from a mix of improvisation and structure, having as an aim contemplation of flowers and searching for a way to become one.
The project is ongoing.
